I'm a member of an internet community called 'orkut'. I joined a community called 'linkin park' there a while back and was surprised to find a thread called 'INDIA' on the list of threads. When I opened the thread I was shocked to find that the very first post was a very offensive post about India and reading further I also found some very virulent retorts. After the first shock wore off I was quite amused at finding a hate-india thread in a linkin park community. [If u don't get the joke pls don't ask me to explain. I have a weird sense of humour.] This was a while back. Today out of curiosity I went back to that thread and I was shocked to find that far from dying out it's become something in the nature of an online battle. Fake Ids, bad words in various languages, bad portuguese, worse english... you'll find it all.
I don't know if the guy who started the thread is a Jamaican or if he's a Brazilian. He seems confused himself. On his profile he's listed himself as a Jamaican. He's listed Portuguese as the only language he speaks. And in one of his posts he says he's Brazilian. Infact reading through all the posts gives me a very unreal feeling. Most Indians would think I'm a nut I guess but the strongest emotion his words stir up in me is curiosity rather than rage.
I want to know if this guy is for real. If he is, I want to know why he hates India so much. If its racial, then Pakistan, Afghanistan etc should also be part of his hate list. But they aren't. This hatred is so India-specific the writer could qualify as an India-bashing pakistani :) [no disrespect intended to Pakistanis in general]
Did some Indian really hurt him?!?
Is it all a big prank by someone who just doesn't have anything better to do?!?
I do so wish I knew :(

back again...
I'm back n not very happy about it. Had a nice time. Did well (I think), made some new friends, met some of the old ones, bought loads of movies, ..... yeah, all in all a lovely trip.
That's the best thing about my memory. In cases like this, everything bad that happened fades into the background, leaving bright happy snapshots in my mind.
For instance, if I really delve into my memory, I can find things that didn't go well. A friend who I couldn't connect with because of the circumstances and yes... because of her nature. Yet, if asked, all I'd glimpse instantly is an hour of laughter with that same friend.
I wonder why my mind insists on blacking out all the unpleasantness in my life. I wonder if it thinks it's protecting me. I wonder if other minds do the same for the people they occupy.
And yet, with everything that's gone right... with every happy memory,... there is probably an accompanying shadow. I suppose it's the shadow of the parts I've forgotten. The forgotten has it's own weight. Maybe that's why I'm not as happy as I should be.
Or maybe it's not that complicated at all. Maybe I'm not happy about being back because I'm not happy about what I've come back to.

Hopeless Human Condition - beautiful
Been to Bombay and back last week. had a pretty nice time. Could have been better of course if dad hadn't fallen sick. But all in all we came out on top :)
This week off to Bangalore to submit my projects. Exams all next week :(
Then the rest of my life awaits me :((
Life's so good right now I'd freeze it if I could, but... [damn... knew I should have kept working on that time-freeze thingy]
This picture is called Hopeless Human Condition. [Yes, that's its name and No, I did NOT pick it cos of the name] It's by someone called Billy Gong... I think. [Actually I'm sure but what the heck... better safe than sorry]
Anyway, it's one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen and it has the honour of being a big branch on my ever growing beanstalk of things_i_must_own_copies_off.
