Downtown Abbey

Haven't caught up with Downtown Abbey but just had to put this down... I love Mary even when she's being an ass...

I'm not really sure why that is... I tried to like the mom more, or Sybil,... nope... that complicated idiot is the one that has me rooting for her... So typical!

Of course as the show progresses I might have to come back here and apologize for this post... but until then...

I also love Anna and Bates, but that's so much more acceptable, I can picture the yawns now...

Arrow

Arrow – Stupid stupid people. I don’t know why I watch this show.  There is not one person in this show that I like whole heartedly.  The one that come the closest is probably Felicity with Diggle a distant second...

All the rest are a bunch of twisted complicated lying second-rate characters.  Most of the supposedly ‘good guys’ all have good intentions about 50% of the time, but then, as is proverbially said, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: Just remembered - I watch this show because this is one of the first shows my mom became a fan off and I just had to see what could make a previously non-tv watcher a fan!

Fringe

Fringe – I’m somewhere in Season 4, and I have no idea where the show will go… I know I can google n find out but… there’s more pleasure in watching it unfold each day.  But today, I just want to pay homage to the minds who created it.  They may never have written books, but the episode in which Walter, Peter and William Bell enter Olivia’s mind to find her blew my mind! And whoever visualized the episode beginning with the reversed gravity – awesome! The writers are writers in every sense of the word. They have created worlds second to none, and their plotting, and characterization is good enough to have made them very popular authors at least to the sci-fi crowd.

How has this show not won its writers more awards?!?

Awake

So I've been watching a few episodes of a TV show called 'Awake'. And it's made me think.

The show's premise is simple - A man meets with an accident with his wife and son.  After the accident his reality seems to split.  In one reality his wife is alive and his son is dead, and in the other reality his son is alive and his wife is dead. Or maybe there's just one reality and the other is a dream.  Or he's in a coma and both realities are a dream.  Hmmm... okay maybe it's not too simple, but anyway... getting back to the point.
As a man, as a husband, as a father, what would he choose if he had to?

As a woman, neither a wife nor a mother, I wonder what I would choose. Lose my husband who I presumably loved enough to marry, or lose my child? (Everyone seems confident that mothers would choose their children over their husbands, but I don't think that's always the case!)

I think I know, but I'm not sure. And I pray God that I never actually find out.

Dexter

I've been busy the past 2 weeks watching Dexter. For those who haven't heard about Dexter, it's a tv series about a serial killer. It doesn't play here in India but I've heard about it from my friends so once I managed to get my hands on it I shut off the tv, cut down on my 'phone-time' and focused all my attention on it. The first season was the best I think. You felt connected to the characters (except Debra who is the most annoying character ever) and you enjoyed the denouement.

The second season left me conflicted. I don't like innocent people getting in trouble and the end of that season didn't really do anything to help. Also there was no real suspense. Definately the most boring season if it wasn't for Lila who apparently is the reason most of my male friends have been praising this show to the sky.

The third season, which I finished watching yesterday, changed the focus of the series a bit. It became less 'Dexter the serial killer' and more 'Dexter the character'. In the first two seasons it was the 'killing' part of the story line that got your attention. In the third season that became the background for Dexter's 'emotional journey' of sorts. Interesting, but not in the same way.

Overall verdict - Watch the first season.

Limewire Vs. BitTorrent

Suddenly I'm in the mood for comics. This is crazy. Some months back I wanted to download the 4400 seasons 1 & 2. Unfortunately for me the BitTorrent link I found was crawling so slowly, I've stopped the 4400 at 11% and started General Fiction. I'm at 52% of a 2.1 GB Download and now I wanna move on already. :( I hate BitTorent. It's so damn slow and each torrent is so damn huge!
I prefer Limewire where I can select each individual file and where my download speed has reached 35 kbps sometimes.

For anyone out there who hasn't tried it yet: Download Limewire today! If you have broadband you'll be blessing me. If you don't you'll be cursing me. Either way you'll be hooked.
